I’m thrilled to announce my new three-book deal with the wonderful Zibby Books, a groundbreaking new publishing company founded by the dynamic Zibby Owens. All three books will build on the theme I started with Younger: midlife women and reinvention.
The first book, The Matriarch, is a novel about a woman who’s the head of a large family, company, and estate thrown into turmoil when her oldest son and business partner dies. Inspired by Bergman’s great film Fanny & Alexander, The Matriarch is set in contemporary Montecito and looks at women, family, and power.
There’s already a TV version of The Matriarch in the works, a distinctly female spin on Succession.
The second novel Zibby Books will publish is called The Bounce and is the story of a 50ish widow determined to make the most of her one wild and precious life. Based on an original television pilot I wrote, The Bounce also has a TV show attached.
The third book is a memoir called How I Got Here, about how I reinvented my own life after the age of 50. It’s based on a speech I gave at Rancho La Puerta that I hope to be taking on the road.
